We are the Lewandowski family and we're building a new house from the ground up. Our goal is to build a comfortable and efficient green home that works for our family. We want to prove that building green is the right choice for the environment, our lives and our pocketbook.

We invite you to come follow us during our adventure and learn along with us, how to build and live green.

And so it begins...

As a family we decided to keep a blog following our green building journey. It's a way to keep track of things, educate each other, and create a time capsule of sorts for our new home. It will tell our building story. I'm hoping each member of our family will make posts. This way we can share our family's green building story from each one of our individual points of view. We encourage any comments, welcome any tips and information you may want to share. Thanks for coming along with us!

  2. Janet, Betsy Blackwood told me about your adventure. I'm involved with Greenbuild 2010, we're building 2 Habitat 4 Humanity homes that should be LEED Platinum certified. One is finished the other is close. I'm studying for my LEED Green Associate certification. What is your level of expertise? You may know more than me or vise versa. Happy to help if I can.

This program will focus on the many available ways to defray the cost of building or remodeling a green residence. We will present available tax credits, tax deductions, utility rebates available for green residences. In addition, we will review pending legislation both at the State and Federal level that creates green building incentives. There will be a special focus and case-study on building green affordable housing....more.
